New Year, New Captain.

Hi all, Tom Wyatt here.

It’s bitter sweet taking over the captaincy from Garfield, he did a tremendous job. The results speak for themselves in terms of on- field captaincy. However, the way the Garfield galvanised Hornsey members by being the warm, kind person he is was his best asset in my humble opinion.

That said I’m really excited to and proud to have been given the opportunity to captain this amazing cricket club.

When I was first told that my housemate had been recruited by some guy called Chetan, I was sceptical about joining a new cricket club. I spent the first 13 cricketing years at my boyhood team, and wasn’t sure whether id find another place like it. A few years later I’ve already had some of my favourite cricketing memories in a Hornsey shirt – with many more to come (hopefully!!)

There’s so many people in the playing teams as well as behind the scenes that genuinely care about Hornsey deeply, which is what every club needs. I’ll certainly be doing all I can to leave the club in a better place than I found it!

Anyway, enough of my drivel, let’s talk about some cricket stuff. We’ve already had some exciting additions across all teams, including securing our overseas player for 2024! James Ward is a left arm seam bowler who currently plays for South Brisbane in the Queensland Premier League. James comes highly recommended by many trusted Australians sources ( if they exist). I am really looking forward to welcoming James to North London and watching him help the club move forward.

Hopefully this won’t be the last ‘website entry’ you see from me, provided at least 1 person got to the end of this without falling asleep. As the great man, Robbie D would say – COME ON THE BOMB!
