U11's come 2nd in Middlesex Juniors Indoor Tournament

March 24, 2019

Congratulations to our u 11’s for reaching the final of the Middlesex Juniors Indoor Tournament.

On Saturday 23rd March our u 11s played at the Indoor Centre at Lords in the Semi Final and then the Final.

Our team played incredibly well to beat North Middlesex in the semi final.

The whole squad has learned so much over the course of this tournament that it was very pleasing to see them being rewarded with a place in the Final which they fully deserved.

Hardly a wide was bowled, the fielding was sharp with one memorable stunning catch by Lucas and I don’t recall there being any costly overthrows. Everyone kept calm, supported one another and the team were well led again by Luca.

Our batting was equally impressive as each of the four pairs batted sensibly, with everyone playing their crucial part and unlike on past occasions when run outs have caused our downfall, these were cut out entirely.

We ended up comfortable winners against a somewhat shell shocked North Middlesex.

Unfortunately many of the wonderful things that our team had learned and shown they could do were forgotten in the excitement of the final.

Our bowling was not quite as accurate but having restricted them to 45 we were very much in the game when we went to bat.

However, their very good opening bowler caused us to fall behind the run rate and in trying to catch up we lost too many wickets and we ended up losing a game that had been well within our grasp.

With the season starting shortly, the excellent progress made throughout the winter by this group should give considerable encouragement to everyone involved in the  under 11 squad.
