On Sunday at Richmond CC on an outrageously hot September Sunday,
Rob Devenney lifted the trophy he has been seeking these past three seasons, his ten compatriots in arms had conspired to
perform the near perfect game, winning this game was merely the end of a process that saw a number of people assist us in
the quest to win this most prestigious of trophies, so we need to remember the players that did not play today but helped so much when availability was not so good. You know who you are and I thank you.
We won the toss and batted first, a very good toss to win in the conditions, after a catastrophic start Joseph Emanuel & Liam O'hare constructed an innings that turned out to be the highest ever scored in 7 MDL finals, they put on 77 before Liam O'hare was out for 26, this formed the base for what was to come, two sublime innings and a cameo, 81 from Joe Emanuel and 58 from George Croton, Tom Waine was the cameo innings of 30 to take us to a record 256-9 off 40 overs.
There was no way Osterley were going to get this with the firepower at our disposal, they subsequently fell 114 runs short,
being bowled out for 142 in 33.3 overs
Jack Bruce 8-1-26-1
Tom Waine 7-0-35-2
Joe Emanuel 4.3-1-10-3
Ben Waine 6-0-25-1 and 47 yesterday for the 2s
Liam O'hare 5-0-28-1
George Croton 3-0-11-2
Finally we say goodbye to Josh Montgomerie who flies home on
Tuesday, we hope he has enjoyed his stay with us, he's scored loads of runs, discovered he can bowl and has been great to havearound Tivoli. Safe travels Joshy.
