Hornsey Cricket Club 2nd Team v North Middlesex CC on Sat 28 Apr 2007 at 13:30
Hornsey Cricket Club Lost 7 Wickets
A disastrous start on a tricky pitch saw Hornsey at 29-4, before a 120 run stand between Syed Ahmed (an excellent 81) and Johnny Bruce ( a very scratchy 43) gave Hornsey a decent ish score of 163 all out.
We thought 180 may have been a good score, 163 was certainly competitive. Or so we believed. North Midd opened with Tim Allen (ex Hornsey 3rd XI 1994) who adopted what was (in retrospect) the best policy, slogging.
He hit an excellent 72 very quickly which effectively won them the game as the later batsmen were under no time pressure.
