North Middlesex CC v Hornsey Cricket Club 3rd Team on Sat 03 Jun 2006 at 13:30
Hornsey Cricket Club Lost 62 Runs
The first 3rd team game for three weeks saw Hornsey away in a derby fixture, North Middlesex on a very bright sunny day.
Wining the toss Hornsey elected to field on possibly the smallest pitch in the league so high scores were expected and North Middlesex scoring 279-8 off 50 overs, a par score but probably 30-40 more than they should have been allowed. Poor bowling and fielding conspired to negate the efforts of Johnny Bruce who bowled through out returning figures of 25-4-82-6.
With possibly one of the strongest Hornsey batting line ups for a long time the match promised plenty but at 20-3 mediocre bowling had accounted for three less than mediocre displays of batting.
The highlights of the Hornsey innings, Dave Coventon's superb maiden Hornsey ton, 102 off 77 balls, with contributions from John Simon 31* and Johnny Bruce 25. With Coventon gone, to an unlucky shooter, so was the Hornsey innings as the tail was unable to hold out for a draw all out for 217.
