Hornsey Cricket Club 2nd Team v North Middlesex CC on Sat 22 Jul 2006 at 13:30
Match was Drawn 1 point lossing draw
Local derby with North Middx meant Hornsey determined to gain a much needed ten points.
Inserting North Middx and with 8 overs lost to rain meant a containing role for the latter stages of the innings, this was done to good effect by Syed Ahmed and Ed Waite. Hornsey therefore had 42 overs to chase 218 on a pitch which was lively as a result of the rain. We started well with new boy Faisal crashing through extra cover and bringing up the 50 in good time. At around the half way mark we were well on course rattling up 100 in 20 overs for the loss of faisal.
Then disaster struck as we lost the big hitting middle order in the space of 15 balls for 5 runs to leave us reeling with 6 wickets down. It ruined the chase effort and Graham Allen 70* was left to block out with James Fleming. 1 pt was galling in the circumstances after such a good start to the chase.
