With Hornsey keen to avoid a repetition on last weeks game, they arrived with a more promising team selection.
Bowling first Hornsey got of to a flying start as Browne took an early wicket, but it was to be hard work from then on as Wembley took full advantage of the short boundaries driving fours with ease. Their openers soon posting a significant score, despite a half chance being put down by the captain.
Brown showed some pace but it was Tefsay who shone through between the two youngsters steadying the ship as Wembley punished the ball to the boundaries. Rae however stood out after a few loose opening overs, hurrying the ball past the batsmen and causing concern to Chapman behind the stumps. He picked up four wickets with two tremendous catches at long on by Duff.
Despite all efforts Wembley were able to post a significant 316 of 45 overs. Hornsey would have there work cut out.
Charlton and Chapman opened the batting. Charlton showing his experience as he nursed the ball around before being bowled. Duff failed to trouble the scores as he went for a golden duck, L.B.W...did it hit the bat? In came Flemming for the hatrick who failed to oblige surviving one ball before his duck a ball later. To the crease, Browne who quickly worked the ball to the boundary promptly passing Chapman on twenty and eventually bring up fourt one runs of thirty eight balls ,out caught.
From then on it was Chapman who took control of the game and with twenty overs to go and a run rate of seven an over the game was not lost. However the Duff decision was to reappear as Chapman was directed back to the pavilion. Despite a valiant effort by Rae it was curtains for Hornsey.
