Hornsey Cricket Club 3rd Team v Winchmore Hill on Sat 21 May 2005 at
Hornsey Cricket Club Lost 8 wickets
STUFFED…….little else can describe the way Hornsey were defeated but here goes.
Put into bat and loosing two wickets in the first over it was a bad start. Charlton Snr and McKinnon steadied the ship bringing up the 50. But it was a battle of attrition as the Winchmore Hill bowlers bowled accurately. A brief interruption for rain brought life to the wicket unfortunately not into the Hornsey batsmen. Myall showed a degree of patience eating up a number of overs. With ten men and Charlton Jnr the last man in Hornsey were unable to post a significant score.
The Winchmore Hill innings got of to a flyer and it was soon apparent that this was going to a very short innings and the bowlers were severely punished. Hornsey did manage to capture two wickets Mckinnon picked up the first bowled middle stump and Giles too managed a bizarre wicket. A deflection of his hand/knee to substitute fielder Allen, a diving full stretch one handed catch. Allen trying to play in every Hornsey team this season…don’t think you’ll make the colts Graham.
On to bowl came Peters looking for a captain’s performance, he too was equally despatched to the locals greenhouse, which promptly brought the innings to a close just in time to see the end of the FA Cup final.
